How does anonymization actually work?

Before you unlock a profile, you see generic descriptors only, things like "Series B fintech, 200 employees, Toronto." No names, companies, or schools are shown until the candidate consents to share her contact info.

What happens if a candidate declines outreach?

Nothing happens on your end and there's no penalty. She's notified of your interest once; if she doesn't opt in, her profile stays anonymized and you move on to your next match at no cost to your unlock count.

What counts as an "unlock"?

An unlock is spent when you request an introduction to a candidate. It reveals her real name, company, and contact details once she opts in. Browsing anonymized profiles and running searches never costs an unlock.

Can we start with Starter and upgrade later?

Yes. Most teams start on Starter and move to Growth once hiring volume picks up. You keep your search history and any unused unlocks when you upgrade, and billing is prorated for the rest of your term.

How does anonymization actually work?

Do I have to log in for my profile to be active?

No. Your profile is live and searchable from the moment you receive your invitation email. Logging in lets you verify your details, make updates, and manage your preferences — but it's not required for you to appear in employer searches. You can opt out at any time.

Do I need to be actively looking for a job to be part of the Talent Pool?

No. Many members in the talent pool are passively open to opportunities — not actively searching, but willing to hear about the right role. You can indicate your availability status on your profile and update it at any time.

What information is included in my profile?

Your profile includes the information you provide when you sign up or update through the portal — typically your skills, experience level, industries of interest, location preferences, and availability. You control what you share.

Can employers see my name and contact information?

No. At the profile browsing stage, employers see an anonymized version of your profile — your name, current employer, and other identifying details are not visible. Contact details are only shared if you choose to engage with an employer's outreach.

How does the anonymization work?

Toast's anonymization model is structural — it's built into how profiles are displayed to employers, not something applied after the fact. Identifying information is separated from your searchable profile data so that employers search based on skills and experience, not identity.

Do I have to log in for my profile to be active?

What if I don't want to be visible right now?

You can opt out from the marketplace at any time through the portal. When you do, profiles are removed from search results immediately. You can reactivate whenever you're ready — there's no deadline. Log in to the portal at trytoast.ca/get-hired, go to manage account, scroll to the bottom and toggle off "Show in Talent Pool".

What's new in the marketplace compared to the talent pool?

The talent pool is where your profile lives and the marketplace is the active hiring layer on top of that, where employers can initiate outreach, manage candidate pipelines, and move toward hiring. For candidates, it means you may start receiving direct outreach from companies actively hiring for roles that match your profile.

Can I search and apply for jobs on Toast?

Yes! We still have an active job board. The Toast marketplace is primarily inbound — employers come to you based on your profile.

Can I refer someone to join the talent pool?

Yes — and we'd love for you to. The stronger and more diverse the talent pool, the better the experience for everyone. Referral details are available through the portal and via the Toast newsletter.
